Course content

The course consists of about 15 lectures and tutorials from 17 Jan to 11 Feb 2022. The lectures will be held online. It will help you to get acquainted with data acquisition systems for nuclear physics experiments, data analysis and programming.

In addition to basic concepts, we will concentrate on LAMPS and ROOT software. LAMPS is widely used in accelerator labs in India and is easy to understand and use. ROOT is widely used internationally, but is a more complex system.

The course consists of concepts and hands-on work on your laptop.

Message to students

If you are new to this topic, don't worry, we will take you through the concepts slowly. If you already have some experience, you will still have plenty to learn. This topic is closely connected with computer software and you have to pickup programming skills.

Requirements

In order to follow the lectures you will need a laptop with Linux, LAMPS and ROOT. Installation instructions are provided here: Linux LAMPS ROOT.

You can open the lecture link from the browser in Linux (or Windows in case you have not installed Linux). During the tutorials you will be required to work in other windows (Terminal, GEdit, LAMPS and ROOT) but you should keep listening to the Google Meet audio. You can also connect from your phone, but please keep your Linux computer near you.
